Time to REFOCUS!

Having trouble focusing? Procrastinating your much-needed tasks? I had been doing this. My school work would get put on the back burner while I focused on less important tasks. This is when you know it is time to REFOCUS.

Refocus your mind and achieve your goals!

Start with clearing your mind from all distractions.

  • Turn off your phone or put it on silent.
  • Meditate. Some relaxing music can help us clear our minds.
  • Think about your future goals and desires.
  • What steps will help you reach these goals and desires?
  • How will the task that needs done help you to reach your future goal?

Use a chart

I made this great chart to help you write out your future goals and the steps you need to take to reach your goal. Think about your reasons for each goal. Why is this goal important to you?

Decide the importance and urgency of your current tasks.

Here is an easy chart to help you with that.

Quick tip: Important tasks will help you in your future, not important tasks will not. What is important to you may not be important to me and vice versa. An urgent task is something that NEEDS to finished soon. Maybe you have an assignment due in 3 hours? That would be urgent.

Now you must do your important and urgent tasks first. Then you focus on your urgent and not important tasks. Next you can focus on your important and urgent tasks. Your goal would be to try not to have any urgent tasks.

A Pros and Cons list may help you make decisions that are clogging your mind.

Urgency causes stress.

Get the urgent tasks out-of-the-way and then focus on the important tasks.

Maybe you will find that the task at hand wasn’t as important as you thought. By focusing on our future goals and the steps needed to reach these goals, we will refocus our minds. Doing this has helped me focus on my goal of graduating from college.

Every day think about your goals. What is urgent that needs to get done this week? Get these tasks out-of-the-way first.

A healthy diet

A healthy diet helps keep your mind in focus also. Cut out the refined sugar and unhealthy fatty foods from your life. Clean diet = clean mind.

Clear your space, clear your mind.

Sometimes to clear our minds we need to clear our spaces. Keeping our spaces clear can keep our minds clear. You know that relaxing feeling when you go to a hotel? Our minds feel clear because the space is clear. It’s not clouded with distractions clutter.

Look around at all your things. Are these things necessary? Do they bring joy to your life? Do they help you in your life or are they just there taking up space? I’m not telling you to get rid of all your things, but having a clean and clutter-free space makes it so much easier to THINK. Clutter-free house = Clutter-free mind.

Does social media or certain websites play a distraction to you? BLOCK THEM!!

If certain websites or social media is a major distraction for you then you should check out an amazing app called Freedom. Freedom can turn off distractions such as social media or other websites that you find distracting. It works on your computer or phone and blocks them for a certain amount of hours. I find this a total necessity at certain times when I have urgent and important tasks at hand (Such as studying for finals) and it is so tempting to just take a quick check on Twitter, which turns into hours wasted. Reading articles on Twitter is NOT helping me towards my goal.

Freedom is super easy to set up. You just download it onto ALL your devices. Then from their website you can type in which websites you don’t want to have access to. You can set scheduled times that you want Freedom to be active which is helpful if you have a set study time. There is even a lock mode which makes it impossible to deactivate Freedom during the time you have set. Which is good for people like me who will just go ahead and turn it off just for a “quick little check”. Yeah okay, maybe I have a little social media problem…

Do not let distractions get in the way of YOUR GOALS!

REFOCUS:

  • Switch off your phone.
  • Clear your head, but remember your GOALS and WHY you want to reach them.
  • Get down to business and get your tasks done BEFORE they become urgent!

Always remember F.O.C.U.S. Follow One Course Until Success. I hope this helps YOU reach your goals!

Love Always,

Rose
